Compositing Supervisor


The Compositing Supervisor works in collaboration with the Visual Effects Supervisor, CG Supervisor and Producer to determine the compositing needs of each project and is responsible for communicating them to the compositing team and for delegating the workload appropriately. This person manages the needs and development of the compositing team and ensures the quality of the compositing work before delivery. He or she provides technical and artistic guidance to the compositing team as well as a strong, collaborative and inspiring leadership. 


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire compositing department workflow process.
  • Quality control compositing work and ensure that the highest creative and technical standards are systematically maintained.
  • Develop efficient and timely solutions to compositing difficulties.
  • Delegate work to Lead Compositors and Senior Compositors in a judicious and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that the compositing department is equipped with the necessary software and hardware.
  • Ensure that tutorials, educational and training tools are available to the compositing department as they become necessary.
  • Keep Production regularly updated on the shows’ progress.
  • Attend dailies and production meetings and provide opinions regarding compositing work and propose solutions to encountered challenges.
  • Assist Production in the bidding and scheduling process.
  • Train and mentor less experienced compositors.
  • Work proactively and collaboratively with all the other departments. 


Qualifications include: 

  • Strong technical understanding of visual effects pipelines and processes.
  • Consistency in producing high-end aesthetic and technical execution.
  • Ability to work to and meet strict deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to assess the quality of others’ work.
  • Capacity to problem-solve and lead others.
  • Excellent organizational, communicational and interpersonal skills.
